The BBC is reporting that Ricky Gervais is appearing in a film which he also co-wrote and which he will direct. I’ll be blunt – I can’t stand the man. The Office was a brilliant piece of television and he was great in it, but since then we have discovered that the character is actually Ricky Gervais and he basically plays himself in everything he does. Extras was mind-numbingly awful and I cannot fathom how it won its awards.
The worst thing about Gervais is his sickening Ego. I once heard him give an interview after failing to win some British award and he basically said “let someone else have it, I’m too busy winning big awards in America to collect it anyway”. In the BBC article he is quoted as saying:
“Basically I’m saying it’s not a British movie, all right, it’s a real Hollywood movie. It’s my first lead in a real Hollywood movie.”
How far up his own arse can this man get? I wish him well in the states, mainly because then they might keep him!
